The Veterans Of Foreign Wars, Sgt. Alvin Jonker Post 2326 was chartered on January 9, 1932. We are celebrating our 84th Anniversary this year. We are located on the corner of 1st and Columbus where we have been for over 60 years.
The VFW is the oldest national veterans Organization formed in 1899 after the Spanish American War and Chartered by Congress in 1936 as a Fraternal, Patriotic, and Educational Organization. We were formed by Combat Veterans to provide a place where our returning overseas troops would be welcomed, have a place to support each other, honor their country and meld back into the American way of life.
Our Motto is "Honor the Dead by Serving the Living". Members of the VFW including its Auxiliaries, provide support to of all our Veterans in financial need, lobbing Washington to protect our medical and vocational benefits plus the Veterans Bill of Rights. We support our troops in financial need, provide telephone cards, care packages and Adopt-a-Unit among other things. We support our community with many programs from finger printing our 1st graders, schools Voice of Democracy Essay Contest, donations to many charities and organizations in need, Supporting our National Home for Widows and Children in Eaton Rapids, Michigan and to our own Ward Goff Memorial Scholarship Fund where we just completed our 5 nd Annual Ribfest Fund Raiser on Memorial Day Weekend .
Our Honor Guard are individuals who provide presentation of our colors during formal ceremonies. Also upon the request of any Veterans Family, they will perform full military rites at the Veterans Funeral.
Also our Ritual Team attends our members funerals in support of their families during this time of grief and attend public events when needed.

Seven years ago, our local Post almost went out of business. But thanks to the support of our members, volunteers, and community we are now again healthy to support our Veterans, Troops and Community.
